UAE secure a huge win against Kuwait

United Arab Emirates (UAE) registered a win against Kuwait in their opening match of the ACC Men’s Premier Cup on Wednesday. UAE bagged a humongous 143-run win at TU Cricket Ground.

Invited to bat first, UAE were two down for nine runs in the second over that sooner turned to 24 for 3 in the fifth over. Vriitya Aravind and Rohat Mustafa then shared a marathon partnership of 275 runs, with both batters completing a century. Mustafa made 118 runs, while Aravind scored 185 runs from 147 balls, with 17 fours and nine sixes before being dismissed in the last over. Asif Khan smacked a 9-ball 30 at the end as UAE posted 371/6 in the allotted 50 overs. 

Despite a team conceding a big score, Yasin Patel shared just 32 runs from 10 overs, bowling a couple of maidens and picking up one wicket. Shahrukh Quddus and Pravindar Kumar also pocketed a couple of wickets. 

In reply, Kuwait were bowled out for 228 in 36.3 overs, falling 143 runs short. Pravindar Kumar smacked 26-ball 53, hammering seven biggies. The no.9 batter Sayed Monib also struck 68 runs from just 36 balls with five four and six maximums. 

Karthik Meiyappan and Junaid Siddique grabbed three wickets each for UAE. Rohan Mustafa, Aayan Khan, Zahoor Khan, and Sanchit Sharma also picked up one each. 

Vriitya Aravind was awarded Player of the Match for his daddy hundred. 

UAE will face Hong Kong on April 21 at Mulpani, while Kuwait will face Bahrain on April 22 at same venue.
