The United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s legbreak bowler, Karthik Meiyappan, has taken a hattrick against Sri Lanka in the ongoing T20 World Cup. Becoming the first bowler to grab a hattrick in this edition of the T20 World Cup, Meiyappan helped his side restrict Sri Lanka to 152/8 from the allotted 20 overs.
Meiyappan coming to bowl his third in the 15th over, dismissed Rajapaksa, Asalanka, and Shanka to complete his hattrick. The 22 years old sent back Rajapaksa and Asalanka in the fourth and fifth bowl, respectively, and bamboozled Shanaka with a beautiful wrong ‘un to bag a historical hattrick. Having conceded 14 from the first two overs, Meiyappan shared just five runs and grabbed three wickets in the following two overs to end with a figure of 4-0-19-3.
Meiyappan, who has played eight ODIs and 13 T20Is for his country was invited by the famous Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Banglore (RCB) as a net bowler for the 2020 IPL.
