UCPN Maoist on Thursday honored the Nepali Cricket Team that won the ICC World Cricket League Division 4 Tournament in Malaysia on Monday.
In a function organized at the party central office, Paris Danda, Koteshwor, party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal(Prachanda) applauded the achievement and stated that the achievement that the players have got with the team spirit has conveyed the information and pressurized the political leaders and parties. The win has spread message for the politicians to work with a team spirit and work for country, he added.
Dahal admired the players contribution and accepted the fact that the government has not been able to emphasis on sports sector. He also assured that the party will request the government to make investment in the sports sector.
On behalf of all the players, captain Paras Khadka highlighted the issue that if the government can invest a good sum in cricket, cricket can take the nation far ahead. “We have the potentiality to do it and there is a good future of Nepali Cricket”, he added.
Nepal was crowned the champion after they beat USA by 8 wickets in the finals. Nepal also remained unbeaten in the tournament. Nepal cricket team arrived home on Tuesday and were given a heroic welcome. Political parties and leaders have shown some concern as Nepali Congress leader Sushil Koirala on Sunday issued a press statement and congratulated the players while on Monday prime minister Baburam Bhattarai shared his message of congratulation issuing a press statement.
