Cricnepal/Kathmandu: Udaypur and Saptari have won their respective matches of the Purbanchal Senior Men Regional Cricket Tournament, being held at Biratnagar.
Udaypur defeated Ilam by 137 runs, in the played played at Degree Campus Cricket Ground.Winning the toss and batting first put up a massive score of 229 runs in the allocated 35 over, thanks to a fiery century by Bidhan Goswami. Goswami made 101 runs of just 78 balls. Kailash Dahal and Deepak Basnet contributed 25 and 12 runs respectively. Amit Bdathoki and Mukesh Chaudhary picked 3 wickets each for Ilam. In reply Ilam was foled for 92 runs in 19 overs. Kailash Dahal picked up four vital wickets for for Udaypura while Sarwan Rajbansi bagged two. Alok Shrestha top scored for Ilam with 20 runs.
In the other match played today at Martyr’s ground, Saptari smashed Jhapa by 8 wickets. In an one sided game Jhapa after winning the toss and batting first were bowled out for 100 runs in the 19th over. The ever feared, Meheboob Alam, who later in the game adjudged Player of the match, picked up 3 vital wickets for Saptari, Kalicharan yadav joined Alam in wickets tally with 3 wickets as well. Sunny Pun and Amit Dahal contributed 21 each for Jhapa. Saptari chased down he total in only 15.3 overs losing only two wickets. Suresh guragain and Amit Shrestha picked up a consolation wickets for Jhapa. Chandra Narayan and Prashant contributed with 28 and 27 respectively for Saptari.
