USA’s Jaskaran Malhotra hits six sixes in an over against PNG

Jaskaran Malhotra

Jaskaran Malhotra, USA’s middle-order batsman, hits six sixes in an over to become the fourth player to do so in international cricket against Papua New Guinea in Oman on Thursday.

Malhotra’s unbeaten 173 off 124 balls (16 fours, 4 sixes) also made him the first player from the USA to notch up an ODI century. He also took the record for the highest score by a No.5 batsman in ODI cricket, overtaking South Africa’s AB de Villiers who smashed 66-ball 162 against West Indies at the 2015 World Cup.

The 31-year-old smashed 6 sixes against seamer Gaudi Toka in the final over of the USA’s innings.

Malhotra hit 16 sixes in the innings, only one short of the record set by Eoin Morgan against Afghanistan during the 2019 World Cup.

USA posted 271-9 in their second ODI clash at Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman against PNG and bowled them out for 137 runs in 37.1 overs to register a comfortable 134 runs win.

Earlier, the USA team defeated PNG by 7 wickets in the first ODI of the bilateral series.
