Virat Kohli surpasses Chris Gayle’s record with back-to-back IPL century

Virat Kohli has scored another sensational century in Indian Premier League (IPL).back-to-back matches. Kohli scored a back-to-back ton to help Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) post a commanding total against Gujrat Titans.

The consecutive ton also propelled him to the top of the IPL century chart, surpassing Chris Gayle’s previous record of six centuries. He now has seven IPL hundreds.

The star batter’s scintillating innings played a pivotal role in RCB’s must-win encounter against the Gujrat Titans, as they posted an imposing total of 197/5 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

He completed fifty off 35 deliveries and reached three figures in 60 balls. Eventually, the prolific batter finished on 101 from 61 balls smashing 13 fours and one six.

Kohli joined Shikhar Dhawan and Jos Buttler to achieve consecutive 100s in IPL history. Dhawan and Buttler did so in 2020 and 2022, respectively.

This phenomenal performance comes on the heels of Kohli’s previous match heroics, where he scored a scintillating century off 63 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), leading RCB to an emphatic eight-wicket victory.

With RCB needing a win against the Gujrat Titans to secure their spot in the playoffs, Kohli’s back-to-back centuries have undoubtedly bolstered the team’s chances and ignited the hopes of RCB fans.
