Visitor Kolkata Satya Bharati wins Indo-Nepal U-16 Cricket

Kathmandu/Cricnepal: Kolkata Satya Vharati (KSV) lifted the title of Wai Wai Indo Nepal U-16 T20 Cricket Tournament after registering a nine wicket victory over Sainik Awasiya Mahavidhyalaya in the final played at Pulchowk Engineering Ground on Saturday.

Winning the toss, Sainik opted to bat first and scored only 73 runs in 16.4 overs losing all wickets. Kiran Shrestha scored 14 and Sujan Basnet added 10 runs while none of the other batsman entered the double digit figure.

Sainik were troubled with the five wickets haul from the player of the match Atul Nirala of KSV. Kamal Jodh claimed two wickets.

In reply, KSV chased the target easily in just 6.5 overs losing only a wicket. Opener Ravi Sharma remained unbeaten at 51 runs off 23 balls. Taran Preet Singh was caught for 11 runs while Atul Nirala was not out at 6. Prashant Shrestha took the only wicket for Sainik.

Earlier, in the second semifinal, Sainik 77/4 had defeated Galaxy Public School 76/7 by six wickets.

Winner KSV bagged cash prize of Rs. 80,000 along with trophy and certificates while runner up were awarded with Rs. 40,000 and trophy.

Atul Nirala of KSV was declared the man-of-the-series and the best bowler while Niraj Shrestha of Army school won the best batsman award.

The tournament was organized by Greenland Children Academy H.S. School where eight schools from Nepal and two from India participated.
