“Waugh Accepted the Jersey with Utmost Gratitude”

Steve Waugh(168 Tests  for Australia), former Australian Captain and ICC Cricket Hall of Famer(inducted as inagural member in 2009) was presented by Nepali Cricket Jearse in a small function organised in Lords(MCC), England. Prashant Kunwar, who had arranged for Naresh Budayer and Rajesh Pulami’s training at Marleybone Cricket Club(MCC) arranged for it as well. Prashant Kunwar in a short online interview with Cricnepal representative Arun Upreti talked about the “behind the scenes” of the initiative.

How did you manage this?

First we met with Mr. Derek Brewer, Chief Executive & Secretary of MCC and talked about our plans. He was quite positive about what we wanted to do .Then we met with Steve Waugh, (who was there for the second Ashes Test)  and talked to him about Nepali Cricket. He was quite keen to learn more about Nepali Cricket. So we updated him about Nepali Cricket’s recent development and also handed him over the jersey.

It was fitting that Gagan Thapa was there in London. He is extremely passionate about Nepali Cricket and he was more than willing to be part of the initiative.

How did Steve Waugh React?

Well he was very pleased to meet us and learn about Nepali Cricket recent development. He accepted the jersey with utmost gratitude.

Are there any plans of continuing such initiative in near future?

At the moment lets just be positive and hopefully there will be more positive news about Nepal cricket. Jai Nepal!!!!
