“We Want to Move Ahead Defeating Teams like Afghanistan”

Pubudu Dassanayake

KathmanduCoach Pubudu Dassanayeke expressed that Nepali Cricket Team will not just be aiming for qualification in the upcoming T20 World Cup Qualifier in November. “We want to move forward defeating teams like Afghanistan in the Tournament” said the Sri Lankan.  Nepal is in the same group with strong teams like Afghanistan, Netherlands and Scotland in the T20 WC Qualifiers.

Pubudu told that it was time for Nepali Cricket to move forward and opined Nepali Cricket could move forward only if the cricket team can prove their worth at higher level.

Kantipur daily yesterday reported that the coach was satisfied with High Performance Program(HPP) for the ICC Qualifying Events. Nepal is playing T20 WC Qualifiers in November and One Day WC Qualifiers in January.

“We have been working to correct our mistakes and sharpen batting and bowling skills” expressed Dassanayeke about the training proceedings. Victorian Chris Harris has been working with the players to improve their batting skills; focussing especially on  adjusting to fast tracks of NZ.

Dassanayeke also informed that the team was practicing in conditions similar to that in UAE and New Zealand. The new fast bowling machine and Sri Lankan fast bowlers were particularly helpful in the cause.

The next  itinerary in the HPP is Nepal’s Tour of Delhi right after Dashain. Nepal is set to play 7 matches in Delhi- 3 of them against Delhi District Association Team in the famous Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, home to IPL Franchise Delhi Daredevils.
