Young Guns Failed to Impress In the First Match

Pakistan U19: 311/6 (50 overs)  Sami Aslam 108 (108), Hasan Raza 100 (118),Lalit Singh Bhandari 2/56 , Ram Naresh Giri beat Nepal U19: 179/7 (50 overs)  Amit Shrestha 60 (107), Sunil Dhamala 39 (70),Kamran Ghulam 4/36,Karamat Ali 2/40.

Nepal U-19 team made a worst start to their U-19 Asia Cup campaign as they were thrashed by Pakistan U-19 by a huge margin of 132 runs in the first at the ICC Gobal Acedemy Ground in Dubai,today.

Pakistan U-19 posted a huge total of 311/6 in 50 over riding on twin centuries from Sami Aslam and Hasan Raza. In reply, Nepal could only manage 179 runs losing seven wickets.

Bowling first,Nepal took their first wicket in the 6 th over reducing Pakistan 16 for 1. But  another opener  Sami Aslam blasted run a ball 108 and next man in Hasan Raza made 100 runs off 118 deliveries as the duo added 166 runs for the second wicket to help Pakistan post a huge total. Zafar Gohar played a quickfire inning of 50 runs off just 26 deliveries in the end to help Pakistan finish on 311/6. Nepal used as many as 7 bowlers but all were ruthless against a formidable batting line up. Lalit Bhandari and Ramnaresh Giri picked two wickets each for Nepal.

Chasing a huge target,openers Sunil Dhamala and Amrit Shrestha made a slow start adding 69 runs for the first wicket in 20 overs. Sunil was the first to get out with 39(70) runs to his name. Raju Rijal,the next man in was out for a golden duck shattering the hope of Nepal to win the match. Amrit played a patient inning of 60(107) runs and Arif Sheikh added 25 runs as Nepal finished their batting with 179 runs losing seven wickets playing all the overs.

Captain Bhuwan Karki who couldn’t pick any wicket in the first inning remained not out on 19 runs.  Kamaran Ghulam destroyed  Nepali batsman taking 4 for 40 and kamarat Ali grabbed two wickets for Pakistan U-19.

Nepal U-19  will play their next match against India U-19 tomorrow.
