Bagmati Province has bagged their third win in the ongoing Prime Minister Men’s National Tournament. They registered a comfortable 64-run win over Koshi Province at TU Cricket Ground on Friday.
Having six points from five matches, Bagmati are in second position. They have won three consecutive matches after losing the first two matches. Meanwhile, Koshi Province are winless after five matches.
Asked to bat first, Bagmati posted 273 runs on board before being bowled out in 48.3 overs. Ashutosh Ghiraiya and Rit Gautam shared 131 runs for the second wicket before Rit was dismissed for 49 runs. Ashutosh played a sublime knock and completed his century. He smacked 118 runs from 111 balls with 16 fours and two sixes. He became the fifth batter to complete a ton in the ongoing tournament. Rabin Joshi played a nice cameo of 43 runs whilst no special contribution was made from the lower order.
Avyash Timshina picked up three wickets for Koshi. Kamal Khatri and Hemant Rai also grabbed two wickets each.
Koshi reached a 200-run feat for the first time in the tournament but that was not enough for them to secure a win. They were bundled out for 209 in 47.1 overs, falling short by 64 runs. Sujan Thapaliya top scored with 59 runs whereas skipper Ankit Subedi also made 53 runs. Aaish Bhattarai added an unbeaten 32 runs.
Ishan Pandey was a pick of a bowler for Bagmati. He picked up a fifer and ended with a figure of 8-0-39-5. In-form bowler Surya Tamang also grabbed two wickets.
