India’s squad announced for Asia Cup 2023

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled India’s squad for the Asia Cup 2023. Regular captain Rohit Sharma will lead the 17-man squad announced on Monday.

KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer have been selected after recovering in time from an injury. Fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna, who made their comeback recently in T20I, are also back in Asia Cup’s squad.

Tilak Varma, who hasn’t played ODI cricket yet, is also included in the squad. Meanwhile, spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is not in the squad, as Kuldeep Yadav is included.

The Asia Cup 2023 is set to be hosted in a hybrid model in Pakistan and Sri Lanka from August 30 to September 17.

Nepal, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are set to compete in the 13-match tournament. Pakistan, Nepal and India are placed in Group A, while Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are in Group B.

India will play their first match against Pakistan at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on September 2. Their second match is against Nepal on the 4th of September.
