Kuwait stuns Bahrain in a close contest

Kuwait Cricket Team defeated Bahrain on Saturday in a close contest to register the first win of the ACC Men’s Premier Cup. Yasin Patel’s sensible knock helped Kuwait grab a two-wicket win at Mulpani Cricket Ground.

Chasing a target of 256, Kuwait were off to a flying start adding 66 runs from the powerplay. Soon they were down to 104/3 in the 15th over. Meet Bhavsar and Yasin Patel, then shared a 97-run stand for the fourth wicket to guide their side towards victory. Patel scored an unbeaten 63 as his side grabbed a win in 44.2 overs. Bhavsar scored 54, whereas opener Adnan Idrees smacked 46-ball 56.

For Bahrain, Abdul Majid picked up three wickets. 

Earlier, Bahrain managed 255/7 on the board after being invited to bat first. Imran Anwar scored an electrifying 19-ball 53 to help his side post a decent total. Rizwan Butt also smacked seven-ball 19 as Bahrain scored 77 runs in the last five overs. Fiaz Ahamd and Junaid Aziz also assisted 48 and 36 runs respectively.

Sayed Monib picked up four wickets for Kuwait, whereas Shahrukh Quddus grabbed a couple of wickets.

Bahrain emerged victorious against Singapore in the previous match. Meanwhile, Kuwait ended up on the losing side against UAE.

Bahrain will next face Hong Kong on April 24 at TU Cricket Ground. Kuwait, on the other hand, will face Singapore at TU Cricket Ground on April 25.
