Malaysia defeats Saudi Arabia after the loss against Nepal

The Malaysian national cricket team registered their first win in the ACC Premier Cup on Thursday. After the loss against Nepal on the opening day, Malaysia thrashed Saudi Arabia by eight wickets at Mulpani Cricket Ground.

Chasing the target of 154 runs, Malaysia didn’t take a long time to achieve the target. Muhammad Amir and Virandeep Singh shared an 82-run stand for the first wicket before Amir departed for 44-ball 56. Virandeep also scored 51 runs before being dismissed.

Syed Aziz scored a quick 34 as Malaysia accomplished the target with 172 balls spare losing just a couple of wickets. Zain Ul Abidin grabbed both wickets for Saudi.

Earlier, Saudi Arabia were wrapped up for 153 in 46.2 overs after being forced to bat first. Haseeb Ghafoor scored the highest, 40 runs and shared 44 runs with Atif-Ur-Rehman for the final wicket. The no.11 batter, Atif contributed an unbeaten 18. Opener Abdul Waheed assisted 36 runs. 

For Malaysia, Khizar Hayat was the pick of a bowler, grabbing three wickets for just 13 runs in 10 overs. Muhammad Wafiq, Rizwan Haider and Anwar Rahman also pocketed two wickets each.

Saudi Arabia will face Qatar on April 22 at TU Cricket Ground. Meanwhile, Malaysia will face Oman at Mulpani on April 23.
