Nepal faces a defeat in both practice matches

The Nepalese national cricket team has faced a defeat in both practice match in South Africa. The Nepalese team were in South Africa for a practice match against Scotland and the Netherlands ahead of the Cricket World Cup 2023 in Zimbabwe.

Scotland defeated Nepal by seven wickets in the first match, while the Netherlands stunned them by five wickets in the next match. Nepal will now head to Zimbabwe and face Oman and UAE ahead of the main event.

The Netherlands chased a mere total of 157 in 36.1 overs, losing five wickets in the process. Former captain Wesley Barresi top-scored for the Dutch side with 63 runs from 88 balls. Scott Edwards and Zulfiqar assisted 22 runs each, whereas opener Vikramjit Singh added 21 runs.

For Nepal, Gulshan Jha and Lalit Rajbanshi pocketed two wickets each. Young pacer Pratish GC picked up one scalp.

Earlier in the first inning, Nepal could manage only 156 runs on the board before being bowled out in 36.5 overs at Groenkloof Oval, Pretoria. Dutch pacer Logan Van Beek grabbed a five-wicket haul to destroy Nepal. Nepal were three down for 20 runs within four overs as Kushal Bhurtel, Aasif Sheikh, and Arjun Saud walked back cheaply.

Rohit Paudel top-scored with 30 runs. Aarif Sheikh scored 18 before Gulshan Jha made 24 runs. Sompal Kami also contributed 18 runs. Pratish GC coming to bat at no.10, scored a crucial 21-ball 19.

For the Netherlands, Logan Van Beek picked up five wickets for 26 runs. Clayton Floyd grabbed two, whereas Shariz Ahmad and Ryan Klein pocketed one wicket each.
