Nepal to play Jersey in CWCL2 build-up

KATHMANDU: Nepal men’s national cricket team will play two 50-over practice matches against Jersey as part of their preparation for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 tri-series in the Netherlands.

The Cricket Association of Nepal announced that the matches will be played in Jersey on July 13 and July 15. Both games are scheduled at NCC Grainville.

The Jersey tour will serve as Nepal’s final overseas preparation before they travel to the Netherlands for the League 2 series involving hosts Netherlands, Nepal and Namibia.

Nepal are scheduled to begin their Netherlands leg against Namibia on July 21. They will then face the Netherlands on July 23 and July 29 in Utrecht.

The series is important for Nepal’s 2027 Cricket World Cup qualification pathway. League 2 is an eight-team competition, with teams fighting for places in the next stage of World Cup qualification.

Jersey Cricket has also confirmed the fixtures as part of a wider home schedule that includes matches against Nepal and the United Arab Emirates. For Jersey, the games will support their preparation for the final round of ICC Challenge League matches in October.

Nepal and Jersey last met in 2015 during the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier, when Jersey won by seven wickets. The upcoming matches will be their first meetings in more than a decade.

The preparation window gives Nepal valuable time in European conditions before a crucial League 2 assignment.
