Nepal Women’s final hopes dashed after being outplayed by Hong Kong

The Nepalese Women’s Cricket team has been outplayed by Hong Kong Women in the second match of the four-nation T20I series. Experiencing a nine-wicket loss at the Hong Kong Cricket Club, Nepal’s hopes of securing a spot in the final have been extinguished.

Nepal faced a 27-run defeat against Tanzania in the first match of the series.

Opting to bat first, the Nepalese side were bowled out for a mere 56 in 18 overs. The Nepalese side had an awful start as they lost four wickets for just five runs. Rubina Chhetri scored 25 runs from 30 balls to guide Nepal towards a fifty-run mark.

None of the other batters could cross a double-digit score. Sita Rana Magar scored nine runs. Indu Barma, Kajol Shrestha and Ashmina Karmacharya were dismissed for a duck.

Iqra Sahar picked up three wickets conceding just six runs from four overs. Ruchita Venkatesh also grabbed two wickets.

In response, the home team chased the target in nine overs losing just one wicket. Natasha Miles was the standout batter with an unbeaten 23-ball 30. Shanzeen Shazad remained unbeaten for 27-ball 20.

Hong Kong and Tanzania women have secured a place in the final after winning two matches.

Nepal will face Japan on 18th November. They will face each other again on 19th November for third place.
