Two matches were played on the second match-day of the Prime Minister (PM) Cup Men’s National Tournament. Armed Police Force and Karnali were victorious in the respective matches. Here’s what happened in the second day of the tournament:
Gandaki Province vs Karnali Province – Siddartha Stadium
Gandaki – 122/9 (45 overs)
Karnali – 126/3 (33.2 overs)
Karnali won by 7 wickets
Gandaki once again were restricted to a small total. Their top order totally collapsed after being forced to bat first. They were 22/5 at one stage, however, lower order made some runs to guide them towards triple digit figure. Kamal Pariyar and Amrit Gurung scored 21 runs each. For Karnali, Dinesh Adhikari, Anuj Chanara and Dipendra Rawat picked up two wickets each. Dinesh bowled four maidens in his eight-over spell (8-4-9-2).
In response, Karnali easily chased the target. Himanshu Shahi scored 53 runs whilst Nischal Rawal scored an unbeaten 29 runs (from 82 balls). Ankit Neupane picked up a couple of wickets for Gandaki.
APF vs Bagmati Province – TU Cricket Ground
APF – 241/9 (50 overs)
Bagmati – 152/10 (42.5 overs)
APF won by 89 runs
After a good bowling start, Bagmati once again suffered a defeat against the departmental side. They restricted APF to 41/5 at one stage but they posted 241 runs at the end of 50 overs. Sundeep Jora batted till the end and scored 112 runs (from 117 balls) which included seven fours and five sixes. For Bagmati, Surya Tamang (10-0-32-3) picked up three wickets whilst pacers Rijan Dhakal and Pratish GC picked up two wickets each.
Bagmati were bowled out for 152 in 42.5 overs. Skipper Rit Gautam scored the highest, 60 runs for the losing side. Ashutosh Ghiraiya also added 41 runs. APF’s skipper Rohit Paudel destroyed Bagmati’s lower order and picked up four wickets. Abinash Bohara and Mausam Dhakal also grabbed two wickets each.
