Three matches were played on the third match-day of the Prime Minister (PM) Cup Men’s National Tournament. Sudurpaschim Province, Tribhuwan Army Club (TAC) and Armed Police Force (APF) Club were victorious.
One century and three half-centuries were scored whereas one fifer was taken on Monday’s fixture. Here’s what happened on the match-day 3:
Sudurpaschim Province vs Lumbini Province – Bhairahawa
Lumbini – 158/10 (48.4 overs)
Sudurpaschim – 159/5 (29.3 overs)
Sudurpaschim won by 5 wickets
Invited to bat first, Lumbini were bowled out for just 158 runs. They were 150/6 in 46 overs but they could only add eight runs from the four overs. Prajjwol Thapa top scored with 42 runs whereas Md Hussain and Birat Bhandari scored 26 and 23 runs respectively. For Lumbini, Narayn Joshi picked up three wickets whilst Bhoj Raj Bhatta and Naren Saud picked up two wickets each.
Sudurpaschim chased the target in 29.3 overs. They were also 110/5 at one stage but Sher Malla and Narayan Joshi took them home. Sher scored 42* runs while Narayan scored 28*. For, Lumbini Avishek Gautam picked up three wickets.
Madhesh Province vs Tribhuwan Army – Kirtipur
Army – 320/10 (50 overs)
Madhesh – 194/10 (48.4 overs)
Army won by 126 runs
Army posted the highest score of the tournament so far after being invited to bat first. Skipper Binod Bhandari smacked the century no. 3 of the tournament. He hammered 93-ball 113 with nine fours and six sixes. Santosh Karki made 42 runs whereas Kushal Malla and Bibek Yadav added 37 runs each. Ranjit Kumar pocketed a fifer (9-0-41-5) for Madhesh.
In response, Madhesh could score only 194 runs. They were 69/5 at one stage but Pawan Sarraf scored 65 runs to guide them towards a respectful total. Rajesh Yadav also added an unbeaten 32 runs. Opener Mayan Yadav also scored 34 runs. Shahab Alam (10-1-37-4) was the pick of a bowler for Army.
Koshi Province vs APF Club – Mulpani
Koshi – 135/10 (44.3 overs)
APF – 136/4 (19.1 overs)
APF won by 6 wickets
Koshi Province suffered a back-to-back loss. They were bowled out for a mere 135 runs after being asked to bat first. Only Firdosh Ansari fought till the end and scored 55 runs. For APF, Rohit Paudel and Abinash Bohara picked up three wickets each.
APF chased the target in just 19.1 overs. Courtesy – Rohit Paudel’s attacking knock of 53-ball 80 which included nine fours and three sixes. Prajwal Shahi and Sumit Maharjan also scored 22 and 20* runs respectively.
