Preview: Nepal vs West Indies A

Team Nepal is all set to play a historic T20 series against West Indies A. Nepal will engage in a five-match T20 series commencing on April 27th. The historic series will conclude on May 5th, with all matches taking place at the TU Cricket Ground.

This is the first-ever tour by any West Indies side to Nepal. To date, Nepal has participated in only one match against the West Indies during the Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2023 in Zimbabwe.

This is an important series for Nepal as it is a preparatory series before the T20 World Cup. Also, It will play a crucial part in finalizing Nepal’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

What to expect?

West Indies team have so many power hitters and explosive batters in the team. Nepal is also very good and always puts up a fight when it comes to the TU Cricket Ground. So, we could be up for a high-scoring game.

“We’re aiming to prepare for the World Cup and give our players a chance to perform and show their skills to the selectors. We know there are only two spots left in the squad, so we just want to play good cricket. The players are excited, especially with about 15,000 spectators expected at the games.”

Squad details:

Captain of West Indies A, Roston Chase is a very experienced campaigner. The 32-year-old has played 49 Test matches, 45 ODIs and 11 T20Is for West Indies. Destructive batters Andre Fletcher and Johnson Charles are also in the squad. Both are very experienced T20I batters with Charles having a T20I century against South Africa.

The team includes promising young talents like Hayden Walsh, Keemo Paul, and Keacy Carty, alongside capable pace bowlers Obed McCoy and Oshane Thomas. In general, the West Indies A squad is quite robust, featuring a mix of highly experienced players and those who stay busy throughout the year in various franchise leagues worldwide.

Initially, Nepal announced a 16-man squad adding Aakash Chand and Aarif Sheikh from the previous squad which participated in the ACC Men’s Premier Cup. Later, Binod Bhandari, Kamal Singh Airee, Sagar Dhakal and Lokesh Bam were added, making it a 20-man squad.
