Sher Malla makes Nepal T20I debut, NPL form earns World Cup breakthrough

Sher Malla made his T20I debut for Nepal on Sunday, becoming the 53rd player to represent the Nepal in the format. The debut cap was presented by former Nepal captain Paras Khadka in a pre-match ceremony at the Wankhede Stadium.

Malla's first international appearance instantly turned memorable — he struck with his very first ball, removing Phil Salt early in England’s innings, a moment that lifted the Nepal supporters inside the stadium.

NPL numbers that forced selection

Malla’s call-up has been backed by strong returns in the Nepal Premier League 2025, where he was one of the standout wicket-takers. Playing for Lumbini Lions, he finished the season with 17 wickets in 10 matches, at an average of 13.76 and an economy of 6.99.

He also produced multiple match-impact spells through the campaign, including:
