The tournament became controversial throughout the tournament with the suspect of spot and match-fixing. Gyanendra Malla, the captain of Kathmandu Knights, had informed Nepal T20 League’s anti-corruption unit chief Vir Singh that his players had received offers to fix matches. Meanwhile, Sachin Timalsina, tournament commentator also pulled out in the middle of the tournament, hinting about the fixing of the tournament.

Home Minister, Rabi Lamichhane then ordered Nepal Police to investigate further. Following this, the CIB formed a six-member investigation committee under the leadership of DSP Sundar Tiwari.

Mehboob Alam is famous for picking up a 10-wicket haul in an international limited-over match. He did so against Mozambique in 2008. Aadil Ansari, on the other hand, has represented Nepal in six ODIs and eight T20Is. He is a pace bowling all-rounder and offers some Aggressive hittings down the order.
