Indu Barma appointed as the new captain of Nepal Women’s Cricket Team

Indu Barma has been appointed as the new captain of the Nepal national women’s cricket team. On Thursday, the Cricket Association of Nepal unveiled the 14-member squad for the Four-nation Women’s T20 Series where Indu was announced as the captain.

Former captain, Rubina Chhetri is also in the squad while Bindu Rawal has been elected as the new vice-captain of the team. Former vice-captain Sita Rana Magar is also in the squad.

According to Paras Khadka, the secretary of CAN, the selection committee and cricket manager proposed a leadership change, and the decision was finalized during the board meeting. “The decision is focused on the long term. While Rubina can continue to make valuable contributions as a player, we have opted to change leadership alone”, Khadka added.

Indu is a versatile player with a right-handed batting style and a right-arm off-break bowling technique. Similarly, newly appointed vice-captain, Bindu Rawal is a left-handed batter.

Nepal is set to tour Hong Kong for a four-nation T20I series which includes Nepal, Hong Kong, Japan and Tanzania.
