Kushal Malla strokes brilliant maiden ODI hundred

Kushal Malla scored his maiden ODI century in Nepal’s 50th ODI match against Oman in the ACC Premier Cup. Malla completed the ton in just 59 balls, becoming the sixth Nepali batter to do so.

Only Paras Khadka, Dipendra Singh Airee, Rohit Paudel, Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh have reached three figures for Nepal in ODI. Coming to bat at no.6 while the team was 72/4 in the 21st over, Malla counter-attacked Oman and scored the faster 100 for Nepal in ODI.

Earlier, Malla completed his half-century in 30 balls and got to a century in the next 29 balls, and eventually got out for 108 from 64 balls, striking nine fours and ten sixes.

His sensational inning helped Nepal post the highest-ever ODI score despite a pitiful start. The home side surpassed the record of 297 against PNG to set the new record.

So far, Kushal has played 21 matches and batted 20 innings with four fifties and piled up 514 runs with an average of 28.55 and a strike rate of 105.32.
