Nepal Telecom becomes CAN’s sole sponsor

Kathmandu- Nepal Telecom has signed a three year sponsorship deal worth NRs. 15 million each year with Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Monday. Buddhi Acharya, the Managing Director of Nepal Telecom signed the official agreement with CAN’s acting President Deepak Koirala amid a function on monday.

Earlier, on the occasion of Telecom’s 11th anniversary, Acharya had vowed to sign the deal with CAN, however the agreement hadn’t been signed at that time.

From now, Nepal Telecom will be the sole sponsor of National Men’s as well as Women’s team while 25% of the money is to be spent on the salary of players, according to the agreement.

CAN has also launched “Nepal Telecom Champion Trophy” which will be the biggest tournament under CAN. CAN is set to spent NRs. 7 million on the tournament that is to be played in T20 format. The winner will pocket a cash prize of NRS 1 million while the runner up will get NRs. 7 lakhs.
