Lamichhane and Airee shine bright in Global T20 League

The Nepalese superstars – Sandeep Lamichhane and Dipendra Singh Airee have shown a decent performance in the Global T20 League Canada 2023.

Both played well and help their respective sides to grab a win.

Lamichhane picked two in Surrey Jaguars’ win

Sandeep Lamichhane’s team Surrey Jaguars registered their first win of the tournament after defeating Toronto Nationals. Jaguars managed 141 for 6 in revised 18 overs per side, after a rain halt. They restricted the opposition to 121 for 9 to bag a 20-run victory.

Lamichhane ended up with two wickets. Brought up to bowl at seventh over, he conceded three runs only in his first over. In his second, Colin Munro smashed six and a boundary, conceding 12 runs. He then dismissed Armaan Kapoor (16) and Colin Munro (43) in the same over, conceding three runs. The leggie shared gave way four runs from his last over to finish the spell of 4 overs (4-0-22-2).

In his first match, Lamichhane picked up two wickets while the second match was abandoned due to rain, where he was able to bowl just a couple of deliveries.

A brilliant all-round performance from Dipendra Singh Airee

Dipendra Singh Airee’s team, Montreal Tigers, bagged their third consecutive win in the tournament. This time they defeated Vancouver Knights by six wickets while chasing 150 runs.

Airee, who was dropped for the second match despite his solid performance in the first match, came back pretty well. He dismissed Fakhar Zaman (73 runs) and effected one run out in the first inning, and ended up with a good bowling figure of 3-0-16-1.

The Tigers were struggling at 67/4 after the end of nine overs. Sherfane Rutherford then took the charge, and Airee remained as a second fiddle.

Airee scored 22 runs and shared an unbeaten 86-run partnership for the fifth wicket.

Montreal Tigers chased the target in 18.1 overs after Rutherford’s cracking 53-ball 84*.
