Preview: Nepal U19 vs New Zealand U19

After missing out on the 2020 and 2022 editions, Nepal is finally back in the 2024 ICC U19 Cricket World Cup. The Nepalese team produced a miraculous win against UAE U19 in the final to qualify for the U19 World Cup 2024.

The U19 World Cup 2024 commenced in South Africa on January 19 and is scheduled to run until February 11. Nepal is placed in Group D alongside Pakistan, New Zealand and Afghanistan. They will start the campaign with a match against New Zealand U19 on January 21.

Nepal has emerged victorious in both meets against New Zealand in U19 World Cup. Basanta Regmi’s heroic helped Nepal stun the Kiwis by one wicket in the plate final of 2006 edition.

In 2016, the Nepalese side defeated them by 32 runs in an interesting match. Rachin Ravindra, Glenn Phillips and Finn Allen were top-order batters of that Kiwi side.

We can expect a close contest between Nepal U19 and New Zealand U19. The Nepalese team arrived in South Africa on January 6th, hence they had enough time to adjust themselves to new conditions. Moreover, they played a few practice matches before the official warmup matches.
