USA’s squad announced for World Cup Qualifier

United States of America (USA) has announced the squad for ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier. Wicketkeeper batter Monank Patel is set to lead the squad announced on Thursday.

The USA is placed in Group A alongside Nepal, West Indies, Zimbabwe and the Netherlands. Patel’s side will start the campaign facing West Indies in the first match of the tournament on June 18. They will play a warm-up match against Ireland and Sri Lanka before going to the main event.

USA’s superstar allrounder Ian Holland is absent from the squad due to county commitments with Hampshire. Left-arm pace bowler Abhishek Paradkar is the new face in the squad. Meanwhile, Ali Khan will miss out first two matches (Against West Indies and Nepal) in order to serve the two-match ban for a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct.

The tournament is scheduled to take place between June 18th and July 9th. The top three teams from both groups will advance to the Super Six stage. In the Super Six, those teams will face each other, and the two teams with the highest rankings will proceed to the final. Both finalists will secure their spots in the Cricket World Cup 2023. ICC has already revealed the fixtures for the tournament.

West IndiesNetherlandsIreland, Oman and Scotland have already made official announcements regarding their respective squads for the tournament. On the other hand, Nepal has unveiled a preliminary squad comprising 22 players.
