Gandaki Province has maintained their good start to the Prime Minister Cup National One Day Tournament defeating Karnali Province. Gandaki, who started the tournament with a big win over Sudurpaschim, registered 36 run win at TU Cricket Ground in the second clash.

Invited to bat first, the top-order batters’ amazing performance helped Gandaki post 208 runs from the allotted 50 overs. Arjun Kumal and Bidhan Shrestha shared 67 runs for the second wicket. Moreover, Bidhan added 79 runs for the third wicket with Avishek Basnet. Young opener Arjun missed his two consecutive fifty by one run while Bidhan scored 46 runs. Avishek was the star notching up 45-balls 51 with eight fours and one six.

Pace bowlers picked up all nine wickets for Karnali. Anuj Chanara was the pick of a bowler, grabbing four wickets. Prakash Jaisi and Dinesh Adhikari also pocketed three and two wickets, respectively.

In reply, Karnali Province were packed up for 176 in 47 overs. Himanshu Shahi’s unbeaten 69 went in vain as no other batters stepped up for the chasing side. Skipper Rabindra Jung Shahi assisted 42 runs. Chandra Paudel and Subash Bhandari picked up three scalps each for Gandaki. Skipper Bipin Khatri also pocketed a couple of wickets.

Avishek Basnet (51 runs and 3-0-11-1) was adjudged as player of the match.
