Kami & Alam shines as Nepal thrashes Malaysia

Kathmandu – Sompal Kami’s Five-For along with half century from Mehboob Alam helped Nepal to thrash the host Malaysia by five wickets in the ongoing Asian Cricket Council Premier League at Bayuemas, Kuala Lumpur today.

Nepal 150/5 (37.3 Overs) beat Malaysia 149/10 (43.0 Overs) by 5 wickets

Malaysia lost early wickets after winning the toss. Except their opener Anwar Arudin who contributed 34 runs at the top order, Shafiq Sharif 24 (46) & Suharril Fetri 22 (81) somehow tried to hang in there but it was all Nepalese bowlers who troubled them and wrapped them up for a modest 149 runs in 43 overs.

Sompal Kami was brilliant with his bowling, as he took five wickets in his 10 overs giving 47 runs. Basant Regmi grabbed two wickets whereas Mehboob Alam, Paras Khadka & Sagar Pun shared wicket apiece.

Nepal lost the service of in-form Subash Khakurel in the first over. Gyanendra Malla too departed early for 13 runs. Then after, Nepal lost Paras Khadka (11) and Opener Naresh Budhayair (8) and were in deep trouble losing four wickets for just 36 runs in 10 overs.

All Rounder Mehboob Alam and Sharad Vesawkar then guided the team to a Comprehensive victory, with a match winning 89 runs partnership for the fifth wicket. Alam scored a solid half century while Sharad (29*) played as a sheet anchor.

Suresh Navaratnam was pick of the bowler for Malaysia today as he grabbed three wickets.

For the outstanding bowling performance, Sompal Kami was adjudged Man of the Match and also Nrs. 10,000 from Nepali Movie – World Cup in Nepal.

Nepal will play Oman on Sunday at Bayuemas, Kuala Lumpur.
