Malaysia women secure a first-ever win against Nepal women

The Malaysian national women’s cricket team has registered a first-ever win against Nepal women’s cricket team. In the first match of the five-match T20I series at YSD UKM OVAL, Malaysia thrashed Nepal by five wickets and led the series 1-0.

Invited to bat first, Nepal were wrapped up for a mere 50 runs in 16.5 overs. Nepal were 41/3 at one stage but went on to lose the next seven wickets for just nine runs.

Only Samjhana Khada (13 runs from 25 balls) and Jyoti Pandey (11 runs from 17 balls) could manage a double-digit score for the visiting side. Three batters were dismissed for a duck.

For the home side, Nik Nur Atiela Nik Din dismissed three batters, whereas Aisya Eleesa Firdauz, Ainna Hamizah Hashim and Mahirah Izzati Ismail picked up two scalps each.

In response, Malaysia chased the target in 13.1 overs, losing five wickets. Wan Julia Wan Mohd Rosdi scored the highest 13 runs, while Ainna Hamizah Hashim and Aina Najwa Abdul Rahman made an unbeaten 12 and eight runs, respectively.

For Nepal, Sita Rana Magar and Rubina Chhetri managed to pick up a couple of wickets each. Kabita Kunwar also picked up one.

Nepal had never tasted a defeat against Malaysian women in the previous three encounters.
