Nepal U19 bag a thrilling win against Namibia U19 in a practice match

The Nepalese U19 team has registered a second consecutive win in practice matches in South Africa. The Nepal U19 team are currently in South Africa and is engaged in a high-performance camp before the U19 World Cup.

The Nepalese team defeated Namibia U19 by six runs in a thrilling clash. On Monday, Nepal thrashed Scotland U19 by 135 runs.

Nepal posted 141/9 in the allotted 30 overs after being invited to bat first at Memorial Park, Pretoria. Top order once again collapsed as Nepal was 56/6 in the 19th over. Bipin Rawal scored 20 runs whilst Uttam Magar made 12. Arjun Kumal (1), Dev Khanal (0), Deepak Bohara (5) and Gulshan Jha (3) were dismissed cheaply. 

Lower order made some runs as Nepal posted a fighting total. Dipak Dumre whacked an unbeaten 32 runs from 22 balls. Aakash Tripathi (21), Dipak Bohara (15) and Bishal KC (14) also played a crucial cameo.

In response, Namibia were bowled out for 135 runs in 29.5 overs. They were down to 22/3 at one stage but Busing-Volschenk’s attacking innings brought them back into the contest. He was dismissed for 49-ball 50 in the 25th over. Nepal bounced back after that and registered a tight win.

Pace bowlers picked up eight wickets for Nepal. Gulshan Jha and Aakash Chand grabbed three wickets each whereas Durgesh Gupta pocketed a couple of wickets. Dipesh Kandel also grabbed one.

Nepal will now play against Scotland and West Indies on the 13th and 16th of January respectively, in the official warm-up matches of the ICC U19 World Cup 2024.
