Nepalgunj, Baitadi and Kathmandu join APF in semis

Region Number 5 Nepalgunj, Region Number 6 Baitadi and Region Number 3 Kathmandu joined Armed Police Force(APF) in the sem final of the Wai Wai Women’s National T20 Cricket Tournament with the respective wins on Sunday.

Nepalgunj defeated Region Number 1 Biratnagar by 65 runs to end up as a runner up from Group B. APF had earlier entered the semi final finishing as winner of the group.

Nepalgunj put up a 114 runs on board lossing four wickets after they batted first. Geeta Gosai top scored with 29 runs off 42 balls with four fours before being run out. Mamta Thapa 24 off 29, Nary Thapa 17* off 21, Sanju Chaudhary 13 off 13 and Trishna Singh 10* off were some other contributors for Nepalgunj.

Sabina Shrestha, Rashmi Chaulagain and Anu Agrawal claimed a wicket each for Biratnagar.

In reply, player of the match Rekha BC grabbed three wickets, while Trishna Singh and Samana Pun picked up one each as Biratnagar was restricted to 49 for 7. Rashmi Chaulagain remained unbeaten at 18 off 44 balls. None of the other batsman could score a double digit figure.

Meanwhile, Baitadi defeated Region Number 4 Bhairahawa by 23 runs to finish as the winnner of group A while Kathmandu defeated Region Number 2 Birgunj by 52 runs and entered semi final as runner up.

Baitadi put a total of 75 for 6 after they won the toss. Player of the match ROshani Bohara scored 26 runs off 46 balls with a boundary while Anjali Chand added 13 runs for Baitadi. Babita Giri and Soniya Poudel picked up two wickets each while Indu Berma and Sudha Thapa claimed wicket apiece for Bhairahawa.

In reply, Bhairahawa lost all their wickets in 18 overs for just 52 runs. Asna Thapa top scored with 11 runs while none of the other scored a double digit score. Roshani Bohara grabbed three wickets, Anjali Chand and Rekha Rawal picked up two wickets each while Chetana Bohara claimed one for Baitadi.

In another match, winning the toss, Kathmandu scored a total of 110 runs for 9 where Sangeeta Gauchan scored 21 runs off 47 balls with two fours, Geeta Chudal remained unbeaten at 19 runs while Roji Rai added 12 runs. Pushpa Aryal and Kushal Karki claimed two wickets each while Subhadra Adhikari picked one for Birgunj.

In reply, Birgunj were restricted to 58 runs in 17.1 overs. Nisha Giri 14 and Mamata Chaulagai 12 were the valuable contributors. Player of the match Sangeeta Gauchan and Kamala Rai struck two wickets each while Geeta Chudal, Sajani Shrestha, Shilu Rijal and Shraddha Shrestha took wicket apiece for Kathmandu.

While in the another match of the day, Region Number 7 Janakpur defeated the host Region Number 8 Pokhara by a huge 82 runs. Player of the match Shova Ale remained unbeaten at 56 runs off 62 balls with five fours while Anuradha Chaudhary and Mamta Chaudhary added 27 and 17 runs respectively as Janakpur posted a total of 133 for 4. Sushila Gurung grabbed two wickets while Pragya Pokhrel and Priya Gurung picked a wicket each for the host.

In reply, Pokhara could manage to score only 51 runs in 20 overs. Trishna Devkota scored 20 runs off 56 balls with a four. Kabita Gautam and Mamta Chaudhary claimed wicket apiece for Janakpur.

Baitadi will meet Nepalgunj while APF will face Kathmandu in semi finals on Monday.
