Both the USA team and Nepal team were playing their final One-Day International of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 tri-series in Kathmandu. It appeared like the USA team were in hurry to hand an easy win for Nepal.
Exhibiting a baffling batting performance, the visitors crumbled for 35 runs in 12 overs, the joint-lowest in a completed ODI innings at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, Kirtipur on Wednesday. Opener Xavier Marshall who made 16 runs, was the highest scorer and only US batsman to reach the double figures.
It was an unforgettable one for legspinner Sandeep Lamichhane and Sushan Bhari, as the duo completely dominated the first first half with the all 10 wickets. Lamichhane took six wickets from his six overs, giving away 16 runs and maiden while Bhari clinched four wickets from three overs, it was a complete dominance from the spinners today. Lamichhane’s figure is the second-best in ODI by an associate player.
Nepal reached the target in 32 balls after an early hiccups of losing Gyanendra Malla (1) and Subash Khakurel (0) during the chase. However, Paras Khadka and Dipendra Singh Airee guided through the host with an ease. Khadka scored 20 runs off 12 balls and Airee hit 11-ball 15 runs.
