Rain interrupts Nepal’s semi-final match against Kuwait

The semi-final match of the ACC Premier Cup between Nepal and Kuwait has been interrupted by the rain. Invited to bat first at TU Cricket Ground, Nepal were 141/3 in 23.2 overs when rain halted the clash.

Nepal were off to a flying start adding 76 runs without losing any wicket from the powerplay. Swiftly they were down to 80/3 in the 13th over.

Kushal Bhurtel scored 43 from 39 balls with seven fours and one six. Bhim Sharki (1) walked back cheaply, followed by Aasif Sheikh, who scored 28-ball 31 smacking three sixes.

Rohit Paudel and Kushal Malla are unbeaten in the crease for Nepal. Rohit is playing on 30(40)*, whereas Kushal is batting on 32* from 30 balls.

In case of an abandonment of the match due to rain, Nepal will advance to the final as the team with a higher group stage finish wins.

Nepal is the only undefeated team in the tournament so far. They started the tournament with a win against Malaysia, followed by a record-breaking victory against Oman in the team’s 50th ODI match. The third match against Saudi Arabia was washed out by the rain, and Nepal rattled Qatar in the final group-stage match.

Meanwhile, Kuwait faced a 143-run defeat against UAE in the first match and bounced back well to win the remaining three matches. They stunned Hong Kong by 30 runs in the device match to book a semi-final spot.
