Saudi Arabia defeats Qatar ahead of a match against Nepal

Saudi Arabia defeated Qatar on Saturday to register the first win of the ACC Men’s Premier Cup 2023. Abdul Waheed’s century helped Saudi win the match by seven wickets at TU Cricket Ground. Saudi Arabia, who were beaten by Malaysia in the first match, will face Nepal in the next match. 

Forced to bat first, Qatar were wrapped up for 216 in 49.5 overs. Muhammad Tanveer was the top scorer with 46 runs. Kamran Khan and skipper Mohammed Rizlan contributed 36 and 28 runs.

For Saudi, Ishtiaq Ahmad picked up four wickets. Zain Ul Abidin, Ahmed Baladraf, and Atif-Ur-Rehman also pocketed a couple of wickets each.

In reply, Abdul Waheed’s ton helped Saudi Arabia achieve the target in just 34.2 overs, losing just three wickets. He shared 118 runs for the opening wicket with Waqar Ul Hassan, who scored 55 runs. Waheed scored 124  runs from 108 balls striking 21 fours and one biggy. He was adjudged player of the match for his magnificent century.

Qatar faced a loss against Oman in the previous match and will face Malaysia in the next match.
