Nepal played their first-ever ODI match against India on September 4, Monday. In the second group-stage match of Asia Cup 2023, Nepal met the world’s cricketing giant.
Nepal impressed the whole world with a brilliant batting performance in the first inning, where they posted 230 runs. Indian batters were too good for Nepali bowlers as they chased the revised target of 145 runs in 20.1 overs without losing any wickets.
The cricketing world was impressed by Nepal’s performance against India. Here’s how social media reacted to it:
In the world of cricket, heroes rise not only through their batting and bowling, but also through their sportsmanship and character. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the @BCCI @imVkohli @hardikpandya7, and the extraordinary Indian cricket team for the time together. pic.twitter.com/RCaEF0TxwS

Ravi Shastri: The Indian crowd has been outnumbered today.
Such a day for Nepal & Nepal cricket fans. Excellent from Nepal's batters, particularly Aasif Sheikh, Bhurtel, Dipendra Airee and Sompal Kami.

India must adopt Nepal cricket and make it their responsibility to bring them up to speed with International Cricket. Send the A team to Nepal. Involve them in India’s domestic structure (I remember India-A playing a full first-class season in Windies). The passion for cricket in…

A solid opening partnership and some late striking by Sompal Kami has propelled Nepal to a total of 230!
Will the Indian batters chase this down with ease, or can Nepal successfully defend the total and create history? 💪#AsiaCup2023 #INDvNEP pic.twitter.com/rsr6vIre8R

This is the score where Nepal should be proud of. From playing fast bowling to good running between the wicket was top notch. India’s fielding was pretty lethargic to say the least. #IndvsNep

… pic.twitter.com/FHDLdAtZ94

Super proud of boys. 230 against India is commendable effort especially after the game against Pak. Could have been 10-15 more runs had Sompal stayed till the end. But this 230 has shown lots of talents and promise boys had. From Bhurtel to Asif, Gulshan to Sompal. 👏👏#NEPvIND

Yes, India won the match today but Nepal scored 230 against them and did not let them complete the chase until the last few overs (despite us not taking any wickets). Our players should hold their head high. They’ve given a good fight to the mighty India.
