Kathmandu- The national U-19 Cricket tournament kicks off today with Baidati taking on Nepalgunj and Dhangadi taking on Biratnagar, at Kathmandu. The nine cricket regions will compete in 19 matches over 3 venues(Birendra Sainik, Pulchowk and TU) in attempt to be crowned the U-19 national champion.

Anil Kharel who was declared the most promising player of the ACC U16 Premier Trophy , was cut off from the final 14 of the Bhairahawa’s U19 squad after being included in the initial 15. Apparently he was told “he is too small for U19 cricket”.
The tournament like previous year is being sponsored by Wai Wai.
