CAN revoke the suspension of Sandeep Lamichhane

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN)’s board meeting on Tuesday has lifted the suspension of star cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane. CAN consulted with legal professionals to revoke the suspension. As per the source, Lamichhane submitted an application requesting permission to play.

Lamichhane will now be allowed to play cricket inside Nepal. However, He will not be part of the national team swiftly despite the change in his suspension.

A police complaint was registered against Lamichhane for an allegation of raping a 17-year-old minor on September 6, 2022. A couple of days later, Kathmandu police received an arrest warrant against him, and The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) suspended him.

Lamichhane was taken into custody on October 6 after his arrival in Nepal. His remand was pushed further several times for a detailed investigation. He was released on 20 Lakhs Nrs. bail by Patan High Court on January 12, 2023.
