Nepal defeat Scotland in the first U19 World Cup warm-up match 

The Nepalese U19 Cricket Team emerged victorious in the first ICC U19 Cricket World Cup warm-up match. They registered a seven-wicket win (DLS method) against Scotland U19 at Braam Fisherville, Johannesburg.

Electing to bat first, the Scottish side were bundled out for a mere total of 114 runs in 44.1 overs. Gulshan Jha and Tilak Raj Bhandari were the top bowlers picking up three wickets. Uzair Ahmad and Harry Armstrong scored 31 and 23 runs respectively for Scotland.

In response, Nepal were 99/3 after 29.1 overs and were adjudged victorious by seven wickets from the DLS method. Arjun Kumal scored the highest, 33 runs for Nepal. Akash Tripathi also scored 29 runs.

Nepal will play against West Indies on January 16 at St Stithians Main Oval, Johannesburg in the second warmup match.

The Nepalese side were victorious against Scotland U19 and Namibia U19 in a practice match before coming into the official warm-up contest.

The U19 World Cup 2024 will be played from January 19 to February 11 in South Africa. Nepal is placed in Group D alongside Pakistan, New Zealand and Afghanistan.
