CAN calls 38 players for closed camp training

Kathmandu – Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Tuesday announced a 38 member preliminary Nepali squad for Men’s and Women’s team for the upcoming 17th Asian Games to be held in South Korea from 19th September to 4th October 2014.

The selected Men’s players for the closed camp includes Paras Khadka, Gyanendra Malla, Sharad Vesawkar, Subash Prasad Khakurel, Shakti Prasad Gauchan, Sagar Pun, Binod Bhandari, Sompal Kami, Mahaboob Alam, Naresh Bahadur Budhaayer, Basant Regmi, Rahul Kumar Vishwakarma, Pradeep Airee, Jitendra Kumar Mukhiya, Bhuban Karki, Manjeet Shrestha, Rajkumar Pradhan, Puspa Thapa and Ram Naresh Giri.

Similarly, the selected Women’s Squad includes Rubina Chhetry Belbashi, Mamta Thapa, Sarita Magar, Sita Rana Magar, Karuna Bhandari, Sobha Aale, Rekha Rawal, Kabita Gautam, Kajal Shrestha, Roshani Bohara, Sonu Khadka, Anjali Chand, Mamta Kumari Chaudhary, Jyoti Pandey, Trishna Singh, Saraswoti Chaudhary, Nary Thapa Magar, Indu Verma and Binu Budha Magar.

According to the press release published today, Shriniwas SJB Rana is taking the role of Team Manager for the Men’s team. While, For the women’s team, Sanjaya Raj Singh takes the Manager role and Navin Kumar Singh as a Coach.

For the first instant, the Men’s team will be without the head coach Pubudu Dassanayake. Arun Aryal who coaches the Tribhuvan Army Nepal club will fulfill the coaching job.

Two ICC full member nations – Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are taking part, in addition to eight associates and affiliates nations – Nepal, Afghanistan, China, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Maldives, Malaysia, South Korea for the Men’s teams.

Similarly, Three ICC full member nations – Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh are taking part, in addition to 7 associates and affiliates nations – China, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, South Korea, Thailand for the Women’s teams.
