International cricket stadium to be constructed in Tilottama with 40 crore private investment

A private investment of NRS. 40 Crore has been allocated for the construction of an International-level cricket ground in Tilottama, Rupandehi, as per Ujyalo Online. Today, the foundation stone for the construction of the cricket ground named Extratech Oval was laid in Tilottama Municipality Ward No. 17, Darakhsawa.

As per the source, approximately two years ago, the process of acquiring land for the construction of the cricket ground was initiated. According to Vinod Kunwar, the director of Extratech Oval Pvt Ltd, the ground construction project has made significant headway after the successful acquisition of around five bighas of land. As a testament to their commitment, the company is currently engaged in the ongoing process of acquiring more land to further facilitate the construction and development of the cricket ground.

Kunwar revealed that the initial phase of the project involves constructing a stadium capable of 5,000 spectators within the first year. As part of the long-term plan, the intention is to gradually increase the seating capacity by 5,000 spectators each year, aiming to ultimately establish a cricket stadium with a total capacity of 25,000 spectators within a span of four years. The estimated cost for the completion of the Extratech Oval Cricket Stadium is approximately Nrs 40 crore.

As per the source, Kunwar emphasized that due to the government’s inability to construct a high-quality International Cricket Ground, he took the initiative to begin the construction of the ground with his personal investment. He further highlighted the case of the Gautam Buddha International Ground in Bharatpur, Chitwan, which is facing interruption. Kunwar mentioned that funds for the construction of the cricket ground have already been secured.

ExtraTech is an IT training institute located in Sydney, Australia. Former national cricketer Shakti Gauchan has been appointed as the brand ambassador of Extratech Oval Cricket Ground. As part of the development plan for the cricket stadium, it will feature an academy and a training centre equipped with a hostel. Gauchan has been entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing these facilities and their operations.

In the stadium compound, there is a proposal to construct a four-storey building and establish an academy to provide training for a hundred individuals. Madhav Pathak, who has an extensive background as the curator at the Sheikh Zayed International Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi, will retain his position as the curator at the Extratech Oval Cricket Ground.
