PM Cup Women’s National Tournament: Match-Day 5 Summary

The Prime Minister (PM) Cup Women’s National Tournament’s fifth round concluded on Wednesday. Three teams were victorious batting first whilst one team won the match while chasing. APF, Koshi, Bagmati and Sudurpaschim emerged victorious on Wednesday.

APF tharsh Karnali and stretch their winning streak

Armed Police Force (APF) women continued their winning run with a big 92-run win over Karnali Province women. Rajmati Airee and Mamta Chaudhary added 117 runs for the first wicket as APF posted 160/2, the tournament’s highest score so far. Rajmati notched up 67 whereas Mamta smashed 62.

In reply, Karnali scored 68/8 after playing a full 20 overs. Trisana Bishwokarma top scored with run a ball 19 runs. Karuna Bhandari picked up four wickets (4-1-13-4) for APF. Rajmati was awarded the POTM award. APF are at the top of the table with five wins in five matches.

Koshi outplay Gandaki after Sangita Rai’s heroic

Koshi Province women registered a 55-run win over Gandaki Province women in the first match at Mulpani Cricket Ground. Despite losing their top three batters, Koshi posted 103/8 on the board. Bimala Mahala scored 25 whereas Sangita Rai and Lakita Rajbanshi scored 23 and 22 runs. Kusum Godar and Shristi Poudel picked up two wickets each for Gandaki.

In the second innings, Koshi bowled our Gandaki for a mere 48 runs. Only Suman Khatiwada (21*) crossed the double-digit score. Five batters were dismissed for a duck. For, Koshi Sangita Rai (POTM) and Alisha Khadiya grabbed two wickets each. Meanwhile, Rubina Chhetri bowled only one over and pocketed three wickets to wrap up the match. Koshi are in second position with eight points from five matches.

Bagmati one step closer to the playoffs after a crucial win over Lumbini

Bagmati Province women are one step closer to the playoffs after a fighting nine-run win over Lumbini Province women in a crucial match. In the second match at TU Cricket Ground, Bagmati posted 109/8. Opener Helisha Gurung notched up 46 runs whereas Yashu Pandey finished well with eight-ball 12 runs. Sharmila Rokka picked up three wickets for Lumbini.

In reply, Lumbini managed to score 100/8 after 20 overs and fell short by nine runs in a tight contest. Saraswati GM scored the highest 29 whereas Kamala GM added 20* runs. Khusi Dangol and Ashmina Karmacharya picked up two wickets each for Bagmati. With six points from five matches, Bagmati are in the fourth position in the table.

Sudurpaschim stuns Madhesh in a close contest

Sudurpaschim Province women bagged a five-wicket win against Madhesh Province women in a close contest. Chasing a target of 83 runs, Sudurpaschim completed a chase with a ball spare losing five wickets. Kabita Joshi top scored with 26 runs whereas Samjhana Khadka added 21 runs. Sakshi Yadav and Kabita Gautam’s two wickets each were not enough for Madhesh to win the match.

Earlier, Madhesh scored 82/7 at the end of 20 overs. Puja Mahato scored 27 runs whereas Sana Praveen made sluggish 19 runs. Laxmi Saud took four-wicket haul helped her win the Player of the Match award. Sudurpaschim are in the third position with eight points from five matches.
