CAN rename Mulpani Cricket Ground in honour of the late former president

In a recent decision made at the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) meeting, the Upper Mulpani Cricket Ground has been officially renamed in honour of the late former CAN President, Jayakumar Nath Shah. The ground will now be known as the Jayakumar Shah International Cricket Ground. This announcement was made during the CAN meeting held on Friday.

The significance of this ground is further highlighted by the fact that it is Nepal’s second One Day International (ODI) venue. It achieved this status after successfully hosting the semifinal match of the ACC Premier Cup 2023 between Oman and UAE. Notably, the first international match held at this ground was between Hong Kong and Singapore during the same tournament.

To ensure compliance with international standards, the Mulpani Cricket Ground, situated in the capital city of Kathmandu, underwent rapid renovations ahead of hosting the ACC Premier Cup. The ground became the 216th venue to host an ODI.
